Abstract
Recently coatings on amorphous iron and amorphous iron oxide nanoparticles were successfully formed, using the self-assembled technique. The results of the Mössbauer spectroscopy and XANES studies of thiol-coated nanophased amorphous iron are reported in this work. They provide more support in demonstrating the formation of chemical bonds between the amorphous iron and the various surfactants. A trivalent iron atom is detected as bound to the SDS surfactant by both, XANES and Mössbauer spectroscopies.
