Abstract
Discusses the species diversity of land snails in Israel, noting the extent of such diversity, faunal origins, endemism and distributional history. Factors determining distribution include rainfall/aridity, substrate, vegetation, temperature, competition and predation. Explanation of the distribution of Levantina caesareana and L. hierosolyma remains problematic. -P.J.Jarvis
