Abstract
The CPN-1 model is investigated in terms of unconstrained variables in both the lagrangian and hamiltonian formulations. The presence of a gauge ambiguity is intimately related with confinement and the appearance of a dynamically generated vector field. Various aspects of the spectrum of states in the large-N limit are investigated.
