Abstract

Data for elastic scattering of α-particles by 40, 42, 44, 48Ca, 50Ti, 52Cr and 90Zr at 104 MeV, by 40Ca, 46,48,50Ti 58Ni; 90Zr and 208 208 Pb at 140 MeV and by 58,60,62,64Ni at 173 MeV are analysed using a Fourier-Bessel description of the optical potential. All data extend to large angles, thus allowing unique determination of volume integrals and rms radii of the potentials. The variations with mass number and energy of these quantities are investigated and conclusions are drawn about studies of nuclear radii with the help of optical potentials.
