Abstract

The dipole polarizabilities and shielding factors of all members of the sodium isoelectronic sequence have been calculated as functions of the nuclear charge Z using an extension of a theory recently developed by Cohen. The results of calculations within the framework of the Hartree-Fock approximation are compared with those of more accurate approximations as well as with experiment.
