Abstract

The content of nucleic acids and protein in cellular structures of chicken embryos of different gastrulation stages was studied cytophotometrically. A correlation between alteration in dimensional parameters of the nuclei and nucleoli and the content of nucleic acids in them was established. Specificity of the changes in the DNA content per cell within the same cellular layer, as well as the DNA content in different layers was found. It was established that the concentration of nucleolar RNA in the entodermal cells increased earlier than that in the ectodermal cells. A possible connection between the specificity of the development of processes of synthesis during gastrulation in birds and the features of their egg structure is discussed.
