Abstract

This paper presents a first look at the Indian IT experience from the perspective of Israel. It consists of a set of three case studies of Indian IT firms, one a multinational subsidiary, one an innovative small firm and one a mainline software export firm. The Indian IT industry is viewed in the context of the Israeli experience in fostering an internationally competitive high-tech IT industry through various policy measures, both horizontal and targeted, with special reference to venture capital and globalisation.
