Abstract

Two nearby sites in the Judean Desert were compared with regard to plant species richness, production, and population dynamics. Although having very similar climatic conditions, the two types differed in edaphic properties. Species richness was higher in the more heterogeneous site, whereas biomass production was greater in the more homogeneous area. Density dependence of plant survival was found only in the homogeneous type. -from Authors
