Abstract

Measurements have been made of the ratio of the excitation cross sections of the ground and first excited state of 7Be in the 7Li(p, n)7Be reaction at 30 and 50 MeV. The reactions have been analysed in terms of an isospin-dependent microscopic interaction and compared to a similar analysis of the 6Li(p, n)6Be reaction. It is found that whilst the spin-dependent term is constant from 30 to 50 MeV projectile energy the spin-independent term decreases by a factor of between 2 and 3 over this energy range.
