Abstract

The angular distributions of some α-particle groups from the ⁴²Ca(d, α)⁴⁰K and the ⁴⁸Ca(d, α)⁴⁶K reactions have been measured at a bombarding energy of 11.0 MeV. From comparison of the angular distributions, L-values have been obtained and tentative spin assignments of the ground state and of three low-lying excited states in ⁴⁶K have been made. The results are as follows: ground state (2^-); 0.586(4^-); 0.692(5^-); 0.890(3^-). These results are compared with other measurements and with theoretical predictions.
