Abstract

In this paper I import insights from the writing of postcolonial scholar, Homi Bhabha, to analyze the body of academic knowledge known as International Human Resources Management (IHRM). Applying Bhabha's understanding of culture, mimicry and agency, the paper first offers a critical reading of IHRM's most fundamental concepts, namely, "national culture", " pluralism" and "multi-culturalism", "transfer", and "cultural sensitivity", and then attempts to propose an alternative epistemology for an analysis of the MNC as a Bhabhaian third space.
