Abstract
The paper addresses itself to the question of the desirability of complete recycling of municipal wastewater, that is, treating effluents for household (potable) uses, allowing of course also agricultural and industrial uses (beyond that which is necessary for pollution abatement). A benefit-cost analysis assesses the quantified, estimated health risks and the additional treatment costs versus the benefits of an additional water supply. The issue is especially important and timely in arid regions.
