Abstract
The solubility of americium(III)chloride in concentrated lithium chloride solutions has been determined. The results for 25 and 40CC were approximately the same, the solubility decreasing from ca. 0.11 Mat 9 M LiCl to ca. 0.04 M at 13 M LiCl. The results are consistent with the presence of AmCl2+aq. as the major soluble species of americium in these solutions, but do not rule out other possibilities.
