Abstract

The symmetric broadening of the water relaxation peak in polymer-water mixtures and its relationship to the hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties of polymers was presented. The presence of macromolecules in aqueous solutions altered the water structure and water-water interactions. The results showed that the microscopic relaxation time of water molecules in the vicinity of the polymer matrix correlated with the hydrophilicity of the impurities.
