Abstract

"As the first book of Pan Yue's "Comparative Studies on Chinese and Western Civilizations" series, The Warring States and Ancient Greece probes into the lives of some thinkers -- Xunzi in the Warring States Period and Isocrates and Aristotle in ancient Greece -- to find why similar historical conditions of the two civilizations brought about different outcomes. It also explores some regularities in the sequence of the past events, from which we can see that a sustainable civilization is one that can examine itself, tolerate and accommodate others, coexist in harmony with others, and learn from others." --
