Abstract

The formation of three liquid phases in the quaternary system hydrochloric acid-water-tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP)-diluent was studied. The adduct TBP·HCl which is possibly hydrated was identified by its infrared spectrum, and its stability measured. The solubility of this adduct in a TBP-diluent system was studied as function of diluent composition, concentration and temperature.
