Abstract

A 12-level axisymmetric model of a tropical cyclone in z-coordinates is described. Parameterization of convective heating as a consequence of the release of the latent heat of condensation and a new method of parameterizing the convective transport of heat, water vapor, and momentum are used. The parameterization of the boundary layer proposed by J. W. Deardorff is used. At the initial moment a vortex is assigned in a gradient balance. The background temperature profile is considered identical to the temperature profile in the tropical zone in the hurricane season.
