Abstract

A broad spectrum of uses of a Local Area Network in teaching library and information courses at the School of Library, Archive and Information Studies of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem is described. Working in an on-site computer laboratory equipped with 20 personal computers, students at SLAIS utilize the menu-driven Novell LAN for developing skills in searching commercial CD-ROM databases, for developing skills in building library applications in networked software applications packages, and as an interface to wide area networks, such as Internet and ALEPH, Israel's national research library network.
