Abstract

Mössbauer and magnetization studies of EuPd2-x-yRhxRuySi2-zGez have been performed. In EuPd2-xRhxSi2 the valence transition temperature Tv decreases when x increases. In EuPd2-yRuySi2 for 0 < y < 1.5 Tv decreases, while for y 1.5 Tv increases. In EuPd2Si1.95Ge0.05 all Eu ions are divalent. All results indicate the dominance of local chemical environment in determining the Eu valency.
