Abstract

Analysis of fatty acids by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) using serially coupled capillary columns with different polarity of stationary phases is reported. More than 40 volatile compounds, including, low molecular, dioic and fatty acids were determined of two marine green algae Codium dwarkense and C. taylorii. There are large variations in individual fatty acid contents according to species, season and location of the genus Codium. Statistical analysis of variability of fatty acids belonging to the genus Codium is reported. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
