Abstract
Contains interviews with seven survivors of the Sonderkommandos now living in Israel (Josef Sackar, Abraham and Shlomo Dragon, Jaacov Gabai, Eliezer Eisenschmidt, Shaul Chasan, Leon Cohen), who worked in the gas chambers and crematoria of Auschwitz-Birkenau. They describe their experiences under Nazi occupation in their home countries (Greece, Poland, and Belarus); their arrival in Auschwitz; the details of their work in the Sonderkommando and their feelings about it then and now; the behavior of SS-men and victims; the attempted uprising in October 1944; the death march and liberation.
